Barnes & Noble is preparing to open a new retail store in the Waterfront at Homestead. I contacted the CareerLink center in McKeesport and was assisted with a search of the website to identify any prospective applicants who had retail background. The CareerLink staff sent letters to 390 prospective applicants; 59 scheduled themselves for interviews. CareerLink also advised job seekers coming into the center that we were available to interview for a variety of positions.
We maintained a presence at the McKeesport CareerLink for the better part of a month. While there, we did applicant searches, regularly taking advantage of the computers and support available to employers. All the staff made us feel welcome and at home throughout our stay there. The downtown Pittsburgh office of CareerLink provided us with an ideal place to hold orientations.
We hired just under 100 applicants; 96% of them learned of our employment opportunities through the CareerLink office and/or its website.
This job could not have been completed in such an efficient and timely manner if it were not for the CareerLink staff.
