Commonwealth Workforce Development System (CWDS) Accessibility and Usability
In addition to the accessibility services at each of our sites, CWDS enables persons to search for job openings, create a resume, apply for jobs online, research career information, or request vocational rehabilitation services.
Accessibility was a priority consideration in the development of CWDS. Here are some of its Accessibility Solutions:
- Solutions for Motor/Physical Functional Limitations - provides keyboard shortcuts for frequently used applications and minimizes scrolling requirements when possible. Supports compatible speech-recognition software. These solutions are designed to assist users who have difficulty using a mouse, difficulty with fine motor skills or those who use a special pointing device or keyboard.
- Solutions for Visual Functional Limitations - supports screen magnification software. Color schemes and font styles were chosen with accessibility in mind. Colors contrast effectively and text remains readable and scalable. No color dependencies are included. Provides output that is accessible via a refreshable Braille display. These solutions are designed to assist users who might not be able to: use a mouse, view a monitor, differentiate colors or view information conveyed with images.
- Solutions for Auditory Functional Limitations - CWDS uses text-based alerts and does not rely on audible cues for any function. When applicable, TTY/TDD numbers are both captured and published. These solutions are designed to assist users who might not be able to benefit from audio alerts or might need to use TDD assistive technology.
- Solutions for Speech-Related Functional Limitations - CWDS provides a text interface to submit a request for help. This solution is designed to assist users who have difficulty with speech communication.
